The safest way to share Google Ads account access with Blastoff Advertising is to link your existing account to our Google Ads manager account, formerly known as a My Client Center or MCC account.

This process allows our team to manage your campaigns without requiring your Google username, password, or other sign-in credentials. Your company continues to access the account directly, and linking the manager account does not automatically change your existing account history, users, billing arrangement, or payment method.

You should never send an agency your Google Account password or share a single employee login. Google Ads access should be granted through the platform’s account-access controls so that permissions can be reviewed and removed when necessary. For more information about maintaining control of an advertising account, see our FAQ on PPC account ownership.

Step 1: Find Your Google Ads Customer ID

To begin, send Blastoff Advertising your Google Ads Customer ID, also called a CID. This is the unique 10-digit number used to identify your Google Ads account.

The Customer ID uses this format:

123-456-7890

To locate it:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Select your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
  3. Find the Customer ID listed beneath the account name.

Google also normally displays the Customer ID in the upper-right area of the account interface. You can review Google’s current instructions for finding your Google Ads Customer ID.

Only share the Customer ID with people or agencies you trust. The CID is not your password, but it can be used to initiate an account-linking request.

Step 2: Blastoff Advertising Sends the Manager Request

After receiving your Customer ID, Blastoff Advertising enters it into our Google Ads manager account and sends a request to link the accounts.

This is a request for management access. It does not require you to transfer your Google Account credentials or remove your own administrator access.

Google may send the account administrators an email notifying them that a manager account has requested access. Before approving the request, confirm that the manager account name and identifying information match the agency you expect.

Step 3: Approve the Google Ads Access Request

You may be able to approve the request directly from Google’s email. If you do not receive the message or prefer to approve it inside Google Ads, use the following steps:

  1. Sign in to the individual Google Ads account as an administrator.
  2. Select the Admin icon.
  3. Select Access and security.
  4. Open the Managers tab.
  5. Locate the manager account under Link request.
  6. Review the manager account information and select Accept.

Google provides additional instructions for linking an existing Google Ads account to a manager account.

Once the request is accepted, the account is linked automatically and will appear within the Blastoff Advertising manager account.

What Access Does the Agency Receive?

A linked manager account allows authorized agency users to view and manage the Google Ads account according to the permissions granted through the manager relationship. This may include creating and editing campaigns, reviewing performance, managing conversion settings, and completing other campaign-management work.

The advertiser’s original users continue to access the account using their existing sign-in information. Billing and payment methods also remain in place unless the advertiser separately authorizes a billing change or consolidated billing arrangement.

A manager account does not receive administrative ownership of an existing client account by default. Administrative ownership is a separate setting and should only be granted when there is a specific reason to do so.

Google Ads Account Access Security Checklist

  • Never send your Google username or password to an agency.
  • Keep at least one trusted person within your company as an account administrator.
  • Verify the manager account name before accepting a request.
  • Do not remove your company’s direct access after linking the agency.
  • Review the Managers tab periodically for unfamiliar accounts.
  • Unlink former agencies or vendors when they no longer require access.
  • Review the account’s change history if you see unexpected campaign activity.

Access to connected systems such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Merchant Center, call-tracking platforms, and CRM systems must be granted separately. For example, see our instructions for sharing Google Tag Manager access.

The Bottom Line

The Google Ads manager-account process gives Blastoff Advertising the access needed to manage your campaigns while allowing your company to retain direct control of the account. You only need to provide the 10-digit Customer ID and approve the verified manager request inside Google Ads.

Using platform-based access controls is also an important part of protecting a valuable campaign asset. For additional security recommendations, see Can a PPC Campaign Be Stolen?
