How Does Blastoff Advertising Adjust PPC Campaign Bids?

When Blastoff Advertising first launches some PPC campaigns, we may start in manual bidding mode. Manual bidding is the most direct way to set and adjust PPC campaign bids, but setting the initial bids does not mean bid management is finished. It is an active process.

After launch, performance data begins to show whether the initial bids are too high, too low, or generally aligned with the campaign’s goals. To help the campaign begin serving properly, we monitor early activity closely and may adjust bids during the first week or two after launch. This manual bid process is common and can be useful while a new campaign is developing an initial performance baseline.

When Do Campaigns Move Toward Automated Bidding?

With automated bidding, much of the repetitive manual bid adjustment work is no longer required once the campaign has enough useful data. Blastoff Advertising builds many campaigns with the expectation that they can move toward automated bidding after early performance patterns begin to develop.

Depending on the type of campaign, available data, conversion volume, budget, and post-launch behavior, a campaign may be ready for some form of automated bidding within 2 to 6 weeks. In some cases, the transition may begin with a lighter form of automation before moving toward more advanced bidding strategies as campaign activity and conversion data increase.

Why Manual Bidding May Still Be Used

There are still situations where manual bidding is useful, especially early in a campaign, in low-volume accounts, or when campaign behavior needs closer control before automation has enough data to work from. Manual bidding can also provide a comparison point for evaluating automated bidding performance later.

As automated bidding continues to improve, long-term manual bid management is becoming less common for many PPC accounts. The goal is not to automate for its own sake. The goal is to use the bidding approach that gives the campaign the best chance to improve performance while allowing campaign managers to focus on higher-impact work, such as campaign structure, conversion tracking, ad testing, landing page quality, budget allocation, and performance analysis.
